Upacara kenaikan pangkat tersebut dilaksanakan sebagai bentuk apresiasi Polda Jambi kepada AKP Johan Christy Silaen, sehingga mendapatkan kenaikan pangkat satu tingkat dari AKP menjadi Kompol.
Disampaikan oleh Kabid Humas Polda Jambi Kombes Pol Mulia Prianto melalui Kasubbid Penmas Kompol Mas Edy bahwa Kenaikan Pangkat Luar Biasa (KPLB) ini sebagai bentuk pengakuan kemampuan dan profesionalisme personil Polri yang dinilai melampaui panggilan dan memiliki semangat berkorban.
Penghargaan yang diberikan kepada Johan Silaen didasari atas jasa dan kontribusinya bersama tim resmob Polda Jambi saat melakukan penangkapan seorang buronan begal, hingga menyebabkan Johan Silaen terluka dalam bertugas karena ditombak pelaku dibagian perut.
